A photovoltaic panel lasts on average about 25 years. PV recycling is a fast-growing sector: proper recovery returns valuable raw materials to production chains, with economic and environmental benefits.
The treatment is fully mechanical. The lines are managed by a Siemens PLC with operator panel, from which the whole plant is controlled, parameters are changed and production, consumption, alarms and working hours are recorded.
Each panel is identified by reading its barcode, and at the end of the job a list of the processed panels is printed. The lines are Industry 4.0 ready and prepared for remote connection.

Solar Panels line with delaminator
The frame is removed and the panel travels on a roller conveyor to the delaminator, which removes the glass: the conveyor below collects the glass granules in big bags. After volume reduction, the blades of a turbine separate plastic, silicon cells, EVA glue and fine glass. A pneumatic conveyor takes everything to the screening system, which recovers fine glass, plastics, silicon and EVA.
Solar Panels 5.0 line
The panel is reduced in volume and shredded; an eddy current separator removes the aluminium. The material (glass, plastic and cells) is reduced to granules and sent by pneumatic conveyor to gravity separation: first glass and metals, then plastics and silicon. The dust, collected by the bag filter, becomes a further raw material.
